Before you jump to any conclusions about this being another technology that has been hyped and will fade out, take a minute to consider the following:

With the rapid change the United States is making toward digital, digital phones are really going to be the next standard in telephone calling. Many of us today are gone from home for extended periods of time as part of our job. Actually having the ability to see your spouse or child(ren) while talking to them is priceless. I do not know about you guys, but every little minute I can spend with my children is extremely important to me and a traditional phone call does not cut it! My digital video phone makes all the difference to me anyways.

How can I use my a video phone while I am traveling? Almost without any effort at all! Just take your video phone with you and plug it into any broadband connection and you are good to go! For those of us who travel, we are fully aware that nearly every motel and hotel has broadband access in each and every room not to mention the thousands of Wireless Fidelity (Wi-Fi) hotspots. Does that mean that my loved one has to have a video phone to? Yes, if you want them to see you and visa versa, both the sender and receiver have to have a video phone.

Now let us talk about the picture quality of digital phones. They are pretty decent and I would relate the quality to a VHS tape. Yes, they are digital, but you will not experience the same resolution of a plasma TV at this time. One thing to keep in mind is that the quality of the image is directly related to both the senders and receivers internet connection. Obviously, a faster up/down broadband connection is going to deliver a better image.

I bet you money that in the very near future, they will combine the VoIP with the digital video phone as one service with one low price. I bet you they will also make a cell phone that is a digital video phone. Keep your eyes peeled for these ones folks!
